The square was inaugurated on August 26, 1888, during the festivities of the Virgen del Mar, by the bullfighters Lagartijo and Luis Mazzantini, who fought Veragua bulls. The square is of second category and its fair is held in the last week of August coinciding with the festivities of the Virgen del Mar.
It is owned by the Cuesta family, in charge of its conservation and maintenance. The management of this square has been in the hands of the Casa Chopera for the last 66 years, and currently Lances de Futuro is the organizing company.
